1.Anionic softener
It has good wet ability and thermal stability. It can be used in the same bath as an optical brightener. In addition, it can be used as a softening agent for extra white fabric. What’s more, because of its softness in the bath, it can be used in silk scouring to prevent from scratching.

2.Nonionic softener
Thanks to its poor ability of adsorption to the fiber, it can only play as a smooth role. But in combination with ionic softener, it has good compatibility, good stability of electrolyte, and does not have the defect of making the fabric yellow, which can be a softening agent for durability, and also can be used as an important part of synthetic fiber spinning oil.

3.Cationic softener:
There are many kinds of softeners, but cationic softener the most popular softeners at present. It is the main fiber in water with a negative charge, cationic softener, which can be easily adsorbed on the fiber surface, strong binding capacity, high temperature resistance, washing resistance, and make the fabric fullness smooth, improve fabric wear and tear strength, but also has a certain effect on antistatic synthetic fiber.

Amphoteric softening agent:
It has a strong affinity for synthetic fiber with no defects of yellowing and discoloration of dyes. It can be used for silk to make it feel better. Amphoteric softeners can also be used with cationic softeners.

5. Silicone softener
Silicone softener includes silicone oil emulsification and emulsion polymerization, polymer modified, compound production mechanism, which has formed the basic system. However, the application effect and performance are still very different.

Two methyl silicone without emulsion: it can make fabric smooth, neat, feel cool, wear resistance and have seaming property. But it can not react with the fiber, and can not be self-cross linking;  therefore it has poor resistance to washing as well as limited flexibility.

Hydroxyl silicone emulsion ( hydroxy silicone oil emulsion): softness, smoothness, good washing resistance, and elasticity. Stability is difficult to be grasped, and there will be oil bleaching phenomenon, appearing on the spot. Therefore, the stability of hydroxyl silicone emulsion is also an important index to evaluate its quality.

Water soluble silicone (silicone polyether): it is the liquid which is colorless 、transparent and thick. It has good moisture permeability and antistatic properties and can mix with various additives to apply. In addition to resin finishing and softening finishing, it is also widely used in pigment dyeing process.

Amino-modified silicone: it can reduce the coefficient of friction of the fiber, which is suitable for cotton, wool, silk, viscose fiber, polyester and so on. It possesses excellent softness and resilience. The higher the amino content, the better the softness is. But higher amino content also means the greater yellowing.

6. Low molecular polyethylene emulsion:
It has a certain affinity to fiber, and it feels smooth. In addition, it can apply with resin, and can improve the tear strength and abrasion resistance, which is the cheap fabric soft and smooth agent before the application of silicone softener. At present, this kind of softener is not used alone. It can be used as a component of various kinds of softeners, and can also be used as stabilizer in hydroxyl silicone emulsion.
